We have worked on many projects within the Royal Crescent in Bath - this view was taken when we undertook a of extensive scheme of lime based conservative repair to architectural details of the facade (shafts capitals and dentils) we were able to keep stone replacement down to a minimum, although we had to replace some decayed stonework to exposed weatherings.
The first stage of conservation was the removal of surface pollutants to elements protected from the rain, black carbon deposits to dentils were removed by poulticing with acid free paper pulp and water with a little added ammonium carbonate. Internally Paint was conservatively removed from plasterwork and Bathstone stairwell and hand modelled stucco plasterwork elements reintroduced where missing .
